Quantum computation

Neutral atoms in reconfigurable tweezer arrays have recently developed into one of the leading platforms for building a scalable, fault-tolerant quantum computer.
Our group develops new theoretical protocols for neutral-atom based quantum computing. In particular, we work on novel designs for quantum gates, quantum error correction protocols, and algorithmic primitives.
Quantum many-body physics

Arrays of interacting Rydberg atoms enable the controlled study of a plethora of physical phenomena, both in and out of equilibrium. This includes constrained quantum many-body dynamics, quantum magnetism, as well as exotic quantum states such as those including topological order. We develop new strategies to access these phenomena in neutral-atom experiments. To this end, our research focuses on new theoretical protocols to efficiently prepare interesting entangled states, and to analyse properties of quantum systems such as their entanglement structure.
Quantum optics

Strong and controlled light-matter interactions form the foundation of many modern quantum information processing platforms. At the same time, understanding the dynamics of individual atoms driven by light elds remains an outstanding theoretical challenge in quantum optics. We research new ways of solving interacting quantum optic systems, including systems with coherent feedback and time-delayed interactions. We furthermore devise protocols for efficient generation and distribution of interesting entangled states of photons, which serve as a powerful resource in quantum computing and quantum communication.
